Choose two free Kindle e-books this October out of a choice of ten

No short read this month

There’s nothing better than scoring a couple of free e-books to brighten your day, and Amazon’s latest monthly selection of free First Reads choices are available for October. Unlike previous months that gave away a short read along with a singular choice out of a set list, this month, Amazon is giving away two whole novels of your choosing, out of ten titles, yours to grab for free if you’re a Prime Member (or at a discount if you’re not).

Choose two free Kindle e-books for October

October’s First Reads selection

That’s right, you get to choose two e-books this month, out of a selection of ten. Typically, a free short read is selected for you, along with a choice of one e-book, but for October, you can choose two. Of course, those with sharp eyes will spy that one of these e-books is in fact a short story, but at least the choice is yours this month.

October’s selection is pretty varied, ranging from a police procedural to science fiction to a children’s picture book. This way, there’s something for everyone, which always makes for the best months for the First Reads program, when there’s more than romance and thinly veiled romance. Hopefully, this is the start of a trend.

Personally, I picked up John Scalzi’s sci-fi short story, “3 Days, 9 Months, 27 Years,” and Mary Burton’s police procedural, “What She Saw.” I’m both a sucker for procedurals as well as sci-fi, which is why I’m excited to see an assortment of choices this month.

So, if you’re a Prime Member looking to snag your free e-books for the month, or simply a non-member looking to pick up some discounted titles, I recommend heading over to Amazon’s First Reads webpage to choose some fresh reads to get cozy with this fall.
