It’s a new year, and a new month, and that means there’s a new selection of free First Reads e-books available from Amazon for Prime members. This month, you can pick two free titles from a choice of ten, with genres ranging from Historical Fiction and Thriller to Mystery and Fantasy. In other words, January’s selection of First Reads titles is pretty diverse this month, at least as far as topics go. So if you haven’t yet snagged your two free e-books this month, consider this post your friendly reminder.
January’s First Reads choices are looking much better than December’s

January’s selection
If you missed last month’s choices, don’t feel too bad, as the selection was fairly unexciting. It was also sparse, with only eight books to choose from. Thankfully, Amazon has upped its game for January, not only bumping the selection to ten titles but also skipping the bonus short read this month, instead letting us pick a second free title. Not too shabby. Best of all, the genre choices this month are pretty varied.
I settled on my two picks this month fairly easily. I’m a sucker for sci-fi, so I snagged Veronica G. Henry’s futuristic title, The People’s Library, which sounds like a fun exploration of commodifying human consciousness. For my second free e-book, I went with Chad Zunker’s thriller In His Wake, which sounds like it should scratch my conspiracy itch nicely.
So there you have it. January’s First Reads titles are available, and you get to choose two whole free novels. Hopefully, this is a sign Amazon is beefing up its monthly First Reads choices moving forward, which could be a boon for e-book interest as well as sales after they fell for several months last year.
