Deus Ex is making the rounds in the news right now, thanks to a recent announcement for a remastered version. While fans have been asking for a fresh take on the 25-year-old game for quite some time, to say the trailer is disappointing is an understatement. Aspyr is handling the remaster, set for release in 2026, and from the looks of the teaser trailer, the studio is simply upscaling the game, likely using AI. As you can imagine, fans are none too pleased with what appears to be a very lazy remastering.
Seriously, check out how awful Deus Ex Remastered looks 🤮
But, since Deus Ex is in the news, perhaps in an effort to hype the remaster, the original games are on sale on Steam at some drastic discounts, including Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition for only $0.97. Heck, you could even apply your own scaling method to the OG, like Lossless Scaling, to improve the appearance of things on your own, eliminating the need for a remaster.
Skip Deus Ex Remastered and opt for the original while it’s on sale for $0.97

After 25 years, Deus Ex: GotY Edition may not be a looker, but when it’s less than $1, who cares
Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition is currently on sale on Steam for 86% off its $7 retail price, which means it’s $0.97, less than a dollar. This sale will run until September 29th, giving you a few days to decide if you’d like to buy it. But I think at this price, it’s simply a no-brainer to add this to your library if it isn’t already in there.
Better yet, if you’re a total Deus Ex stan but have yet to pick up the entire collection, Steam has your back with a Deus Ex bundle that includes all five games and their DLC for $9.95, an 85% discount on a bundle that would typically cost you $62.26. That’s a tidy savings and then some, for Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition, Deus Ex: Invisible War, Deus Ex: The Fall, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.
So, whether you are looking to pick up Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition for under a dollar or are looking to go whole hog with the entire collection, you have until Monday to make your purchase.

well this is pretty dumb. Deus Ex is one of my favorite games ever, but you simply cant “remaster” away the early ImSim jank that it’s packed with.
Anyway, the GMDX and Revision overhauls already basically make the game near-modern. some diehards dont agree with all their changes, but they are both top notch implementations tbh. watch this “remaster” cost $60 LMAO
Right there with ya, we already have free options to improve the game. Just another cash grab preying on nostalgia.
