I may not be rich enough or talented enough to excel at the sport of golf in the real world, but I am absolutely a master of golf games. I grew up cutting my teeth on titles like Mario Golf for the Game Boy Color. That’s a game series originally developed by Camelot Software, the very same Camelot that went on to create the first title in the Hot Shots Golf series for PlayStation, otherwise known as Everybody’s Golf.
To say I hold these games dear to my heart is an understatement, and to this day, Mario Golf on the GBC is still one of my most revisited games, with the cartridge currently sitting in my Modretro Chromatic that gets daily use.
I need more Hot Shots Golf in my life
The thing is, I haven’t played a Hot Shots Golf/Everybody’s Golf installment since the PlayStation Vita (and those servers are now dead), as the series is a PlayStation property, so it has been locked to PlayStation hardware since the first game in 1997. I missed out on the PlayStation 4 release, and that was the last installment outside of a VR version.
Thankfully, a new release is almost upon us, aptly named Everybody’s Golf: Hot Shots, which is set to launch tomorrow on Steam, September 4th.

You can check out the overview trailer above, which details how the game will play. It sure looks promising. Better yet, thanks to PlayStation’s newfound interest in publishing its games cross-platform, Everybody’s Golf: Hot Shots is not only launching on PS5, but also on the Nintendo Switch, as well as Steam.
To put it lightly, I’ve had Everybody’s Golf: Hot Shots on my Steam wishlist since the day the listing landed on the store. Tomorrow I’ll finally get to play it when it launches, and let me tell you, I can not wait.

Everybody’s Golf: Hot Shots is hands-down my most anticipated game release of 2025: a golf game, one not made by greedy EA or 2K, who slather their sports titles with heavy monetization. In other words, Steam is fairly devoid of quality golf games built for fun rather than emptying wallets, and this changes tomorrow.
Best of all, in a world where game prices keep growing, Everybody’s Golf: Hot Shots retails for $39.99, and so far, there’s no DLC either. This means you get the entire game for one low price. Talk about a deal.
