Add some ’90s neon to your keyboard with GMK Windbreaker

Now available in group buy for the next month

Every so often, a keyset comes along that you absolutely have to own. GMK Winbreaker is that kind of set for me, which just entered group buy today. You see, I had been kicking myself for missing out on DCS Windbreaker from Signature Plastics, and while I’m not the biggest fan of how thin DCS caps are, the colors are simply beautiful.

This is why my ears perked up when I heard GMK would soon be taking a crack at the colorway, with samples of the DCS kit sent to the company for matching purposes. This means we’ll get the best of both worlds with GMK Windbreaker, some incredibly sharp and nostalgic colors, along with thick ABS caps that sound oh-so lovely.

You can now place your order for GMK Windbreaker at your closest vendor

For all of you living in the US, Novelkeys is the shop you’re looking for. GMK Windbreaker is now available in group buy, with orders expected to ship sometime in Q2 2026. What’s really nice is that this GB launch is paired with a sale, so you can easily snag the Base set for $135 (which should cover most 60s to TKLs). If you’d like to extend this kit, there is an optional Numberpad addon on sale for $35, a Novelties kit for $45, and an International kit for $65. Sadly, there is no 40s kit, which feels like a miss to me.

Like most GMK sets, Winbreaker will be made of doubleshot ABS plastic, with a row profile of 1-1-2-3-4-4. The set was designed by PWade3, and it would seem this set has been three years in the making, which means I’m not the only one who has been waiting with bated breath.

Of course, if you don’t live in the US, vendors like Oblotzky Industries (EU), Prototypist (UK), Geonworks (KOREA), and Typist Club (CN) will also be selling the keyset.

You have a month, don’t wait until it’s too late

I missed out on DCS windbreaker like a fool, so I won’t be making that mistake with GMK Winbreaker. The group buy ends on November 9th, which basically gives you a month to make up your mind if GMK Windbreaker is right for you. Personally, I love how loud the neon is, and having grown up in the ’80s and ’90s, you better believe this set hits my nostalgia pretty hard. I’m all in. What about you?
