Score two free Kindle e-books this month with February’s First Reads

Grab a novel and a bonus short read

It’s chilly out, with widespread winter storms affecting two-thirds of the country. Who wants to leave the house when it’s so awful out? In my opinion, it’s prime reading season, the best time to get cozy with a new book and let these bitter cold days while away. Of course, with the arrival of a new month comes the launch of Amazon’s latest free (for Prime members) First Reads e-books.

This month, we are back down to one free title (that you can choose out of a selection of nine), along with a bonus short read. So just in case you forgot, here’s your friendly monthly reminder to snag some fresh reading material for your Kindle.

February’s First Reads are here with a wide selection of genres

February’s First Reads selection

After January’s banger selection of two free First Reads novels (which was a huge improvement over December’s), seeing February drop back down to one free novel with a bonus short read doesn’t feel as exciting. This is especially true when the bonus short read is a Women’s Fiction romance novel. I know I’ll be leaving that one on the shelf, which is a shame that Amazon can’t be more inclusive with its selections.

Thankfully, the genres for the other nine books are varied, ranging from fantasy to sci-fi. While Kate White’s psychological thriller, I Came Back for You, sounds pretty engaging as it explores a mother’s hunt for her child’s killer, I couldn’t pass up Dwain Worrell’s sci-fi adventure, Otherworldly, which sounds like a throwback to classics in the genre, where a space-exploration crew mysteriously disappears one by one.

So there you have it. Now that February is here, you have two free e-books available from Amazon’s First Reads program. Which e-book will you choose?
